The European Commission on Preservation and Access (ECPA) just published
the report `SEPIADES. Cataloguing photographic collections'. It aims to
provide background information on the SEPIADES (SEPIA Data Element Set)
advisory report and software tool that were developed in the framework
of the SEPIA programme. SEPIA stands for 'Safeguarding European
Photographic Images for Access' (SEPIA) (www.knaw.nl/ecpa/sepia).

SEPIADES is a multi-level data element set to catalogue photographic
collections. Apart from 21 core elements, it contains many suggestions
for use of specific, detailed elements. The report explains about the
motives behind SEPIADES, providing an introduction to both the model and
the software tool. It is aimed at all those involved in cataloguing
photographic collections, both cataloguers and decision makers.

Copies of the report can be ordered on-line (16 euros plus postage and
handling costs*) or downloaded from the ECPA website free of charge, see
http://www.knaw.nl/ecpa/publications.html
